Alexander Smith, O.D. has 20 years of experience in the optometric industry, beginning his career as a practicing Optometrist at America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He has extensive experience as a practicing clinician, with time spent in medical, retail and group practices. Dr. Smith has spent most of his career in various executive management roles championing Optometrists.
In his role at National Vision, Dr. Smith works in conjunction with leaders throughout the National Vision Doctor network to ensure all Optometrists meet the highest standard of clinical care and have happy, fulfilling careers. He oversees the Area Doctor leadership program and Clinical Advisory Panel that monitors all Doctors in the network to evaluate their clinical performance. Dr. Smith also leads Doctor mentorship, technology testing and continuing education programs.
Dr. Smith has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from James Madison University, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
