Celebrating Women in Optical this International Women's Day

National Vision has long supported the Optical Women’s Association (OWA) and their mission to enhance and promote the leadership role of women in the optical industry through networking, education, and peer support — a mission that aligns with our own commitments to supporting women in leadership roles throughout National Vision.

Megan Molony, our Chief Officer of Merchandising and Managed Care, joined OWA’s Board of Directors in 2019 and accepted the position of Secretary/Treasurer on the Executive Committee in 2022. She also serves as the Co-Chair of OWA’s Professional Development Fund Committee.

“I joined the Optical Women’s Association because the ‘cause’ could not be more relevant,” said Megan.

“I joined the Optical Women’s Association because the ‘cause’ could not be more relevant,” said Megan. “This amazing organization provides a network of powerful women that all support the mission of promoting the leadership role of women in our industry. It has been a privilege to work with, be inspired by, and learn from such an amazing group of distinguished professionals.”

Throughout the company, OWA members are also key participants in National Vision’s internal efforts to build a strong, supportive environment for women to grow their careers. Cara Endriss, a Brand Marketing Director and active OWA member, said she participates in OWA because it’s a way to broaden her exposure to the industry and, in turn, champion opportunities within National Vision. Meet Cara on her OWA member spotlight page here.

The chance to connect with and learn from a community of women is something our associates were inspired to continue within the National Vision team by creating the Women@NV associate resource group. In a recent OWA podcast episode, Susan Larsen, OWA member and co-leader of the associate resource group, shared her story about the inspiration and catalysts for developing Women@NV — listen here.
