OD Resets Career With Help From National Vision Network

in Perspectives Clinical Cases Hear from Our Doctors

Graphic with a quote from Dr. Kara Bachus, O.D., about her positive experience with the National Vision network, alongside her portrait and National Vision branding.

A dedicated leader within the optometric profession, Dr. Kara Bachus spent most of her career balancing patient care, mentoring students, serving on professional boards and advocating for the future of optometry across Florida. After nearly 25 years at the same MD/OD practice, she found herself at a crossroads and realized it was time to reset and prioritize a healthier work-life balance.

That search ultimately led her to the National Vision Doctor of Optometry network, where she joined Gulfview Vision Associates, an independent, multi-location practice adjacent to America’s Best and Eyeglass World locations. Returning to a primary care setting after more than two decades, Dr. Bachus embraced the opportunity with renewed confidence and perspective.

Today, in addition to caring for patients, Dr. Bachus serves as an Area Doctor supporting nearly 40 optometrists through mentorship, collaboration and clinical guidance. The role has allowed her to reconnect with colleagues, support the next generation of ODs and continue growing professionally.

“Working with the National Vision network has been a blessing in so many ways,” Dr. Bachus says. “I love what I do. I love building relationships with patients, and I’m proud of the care I provide.” - Dr. Kara Bachus

Through the network, Dr. Bachus also maintains independence in patient care while benefiting from the support of a larger network, without the added stress of managing payroll, insurance or optical staffing responsibilities.
