Job Responsibilities
This role leads instructional design strategy, project delivery, and a team of instructional designers. They will oversee the design, development, and evaluation of learning solutions for corporate, manufacturing, and retail associates. As well as partner with the Clinical team for any support needed for the National Vision doctor network. The People Development Manager will ensure learning and development programs align with business needs and priorities, are delivered on time, and can be measurable for impact.
What Would You Do? The Specifics.
- Leads end-to-end instructional design for leadership, onboarding, and role-based programs, applying adult learning principles from needs analysis through evaluation.
- Oversees development of scalable, blended learning solutions (eLearning, virtual, in-person, and performance support) that are practical and consistent across National Vision.
- Manages and develops a team of instructional designers, setting expectations and quality standards and providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
- Reviews and approves instructional design deliverables, ensuring content quality, adherence to standards, and alignment to business needs.
- Uses a structured project management approach to lead multiple, complex learning initiatives from intake through implementation, adjusting scope and priorities as needed.
- Owns project plans, timelines, resources, risks, and stakeholder communication with oversight from the Director of People Development.
- Partners with vendors, SMEs, and cross-functional teams to define success measures, evaluate training effectiveness, and assess learner and business impact.
- Serves as a leader on the People Development team, contributing to enterprise initiatives and scalable learning solutions.
- Serves as a leader on PDT, focused on scalable solutions, an engaged team, and overall positively impacting the experience of other team members.
- Actively participates in cross-function projects, demonstrates a sense of ownership and high level of commitment to results done right.
- Ensures that projects incorporate diverse teams with diverse levels of experience and backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience
- 7+ years of related experience (Required)
- 3+ years of Learning Management System and/or Technology experience. (Required)
- 3+ years of management or supervisor experience. (Required)
- 2-4 years of learning management systems experience. (Required)
- 2-4 years leading cross-functional projects (Required)
Education
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience. Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, Business, or a related field. (Required)
Additional Skills
- Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), eLearning authoring tools (Articulate, Captivate), project management tools (Cognota, Asana, etc.), and training assessment tools. (Required)
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with a diverse audience. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and mange team operations, ensuring work is executed effectively and consistently. (Required)
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple priorities and initiatives for self and others. (Required)
- Analytical thinker with the ability to conduct research, analyze data, and resolve complex problems quickly. (Required)
- Understands the complexity of business needs and decision drivers within an organization. Must be able to consider available facts, constraints, and probable consequences. (Required)
