Remote Care
Remote care allows optometrists to provide interactive patient care from the comfort of their own homes. Patients visit optometry offices in-person, receiving complete pre-testing from qualified optometric technicians prior to the eye examination. Using employer-provided equipment in their home office, optometrists interact with patients live through video conferencing while completing all remaining aspects of the eye exam via remote exam equipment and technology. This one-on-one time during the exam builds that critical doctor-patient relationship.
Access Eyecare Services, LLC (“AES”) is a staffing services company that employs qualified licensed optometrists nationwide to provide in-person and remote care in a variety of states where teleoptometry encounters are permitted. National Vision, Inc. and the Independent Practices affiliated with the National Vision Doctor of Optometry network have selected AES to provide optometrists for remote care needs.

Kristen Burkholder, O.D.
Administrator, Access Eyecare Services
Kristen Burkholder, O.D. is the Administrator of Access Eyecare Services. A graduate of Indiana University School of Optometry, Dr. Burkholder has more than 10 years of clinical experience.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Burkholder served patients at Buckeye State Optometry Associates offices in Ohio. She held the leadership role of Area Doctor for her Practice for nine years and was heavily involved in onboarding and mentoring new optometrists. In addition, she participated in multiple product tests with industry partnerships to test new products on the market and educate peers on new technologies.
In her free time, Dr. Burkholder enjoys traveling to new places, camping with her family and friends, and hanging out with her two rescue dogs.
